Some great info here on about solar. My house in Meadowbank Auckland is 100% solar powered for both electrity and hotwater. We were the first in New Zealand to grid-intertie - lots of stuff on site to read and see if you are interested... Warm regards Simon Cope www.SolarEnergyHouse.co.nz

Nathan above said what i was going to say. Also good house design and positioning in realtion to the sun of course provides significant energy gains/ savings. The house were in has a simple design with rooms placed to capture the sun as we like it.

I'm excited to see that people within the wood industry are taking the issue of illegal logging seriously!

The more that businesses can see that environmental sustainability is important to their bottom line, I think the easier it will be for our society to move towards more environmentally friendly ways of living.

Brad=Thanks for your efforts to bring the best non-salt, non-chemical water technolgy to your area. Forums like this are the best way to get information out in a chemically dominated world.

I just received the following reply from Graeme Marshall of Latitude - Natural Wool Insulation (http://www.latitudeinsulation.com/):

"Thanks for your interest in our product. I am not aware that our product “outgases” in fact the reverse has been shown to be true. WoolBloc was tested at Tokyo University and was found to absorb the toxic gas, formaldehyde."

Hi Spencer,

That's a good point. I have put your question to Wool Bloc and ICANZ and will hopefully receive a response that clarifies this.

My understanding is that the wool insultation available in NZ is treated with chemicals and there is no guarantee of it's outgasing liability?
